Mahindra XEV 9S 7 Seater Electric Car
The world premiere will take place on November 27th at the ‘Scream Electric’ event organized by Mahindra in Bengaluru.
Celebrating 1 year since the launch of its two iconic electric Origin SUVs, Mahindra is set to add a major new 7-seater electric SUV to its electric portfolio.
This original 7-seater electric SUV is built on the INGLO skateboard platform to offer exceptional space and performance.
Second Electric Suv – Mahindra XEV 9S
Mahindra has formally announced the name of its second all-electric SUV – XEV 9S, the large, bold, and unfeigned 7-seater electric SUV that is an offshoot of Mahindra on the foundation of its cutting-edge INGLO platform. The XEV 9S will be powered, present, and pure electric, and marks a new era in the Mahindra all-electric evolution.
The XEV 9S will be born electric, unlike re-engineered ICE vehicles, and based on Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard architecture. This plan of a flat floor frees up spacious cabin space, and it is cleverly designed to allow versatile flexibility such as second-row sliding seats, so that all passengers can have the luxury of the first-row. The skateboard architecture also provides the XEV 9S with an inherently low centre of gravity which increases stability and increases the comfort of the ride – big families, big plans.
The XEV 9S is all about creating space in which you can enjoy all that you love, people, passion, and life. It is that of people who live big, travel in groups and those who are not willing to sacrifice on electric performance or presence.
Since, in this case of going electric, Mahindra feels that the larger size is more.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Exterior Design
Spy shots and leaked images have already given us an idea of what the XEV 9S will look like. Its front will be completely different from the XUV700, featuring a closed grille and a wide LED light bar. It will also have two triangular LED headlights, similar to those found on the XEV 9e.
At the rear, the XEV 9S will feature a new set of connected LED taillights and a modified bumper. Mahindra may also offer some custom color options to further differentiate it from the XUV700.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Interior Design
The XEV 9S will feature a new dashboard, similar to that of the XEV 9e. It will have a three-screen configuration, including a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch co-driver entertainment display. It will also have a new 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo. It remains to be seen whether Mahindra will offer a large, openable panoramic sunroof or a fixed panoramic glass roof.
Furthermore, Mahindra has already confirmed that the XEV 9S will be a 7-seater SUV. Whether a 6-seater version will be launched is yet to be seen.
Powertrain Options for the Mahindra XEV 9S
Information regarding the powertrain options for the XEV 9S is still confidential. However, we expect it to feature the same powertrain as the XEV 9e and BE 6, the specifications of which are given below:
| Battery Pack | 59 kWh | 79 kWh |
| Power (PS) | 231 PS | 286 PS |
| Torque (Nm) | 380 Nm | 380 Nm |
| Claimed Range (Mahindra XEV 9e)* | 542 km | 656 km |
| Drivetrain | Rear-wheel Drive (RWD) | |
It should be noted that the Mahindra XEV 9s is an adaptation of the Mahindra INGLO electric platform. An all-wheel drive model is also expected, which is also on our wish list.
Mahindra XEV 9S: Price and Competition
The Mahindra XEV 9e is expected to be priced at around ₹21 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Tata Harrier EV and can be considered an alternative to the Mahindra XEV 9e and BYD Atto 3.
Difference Between Mahindra XEV 9S and BE 6
The main differences between the BE 6e and the XEV 9e include a larger interior and an additional third passenger-side screen in the XEV 9e compared to the BE 6e, as well as a more robust AC system, and a dual-screen design with a more futuristic-style interior in the XEV 9e. Both cars are built on the same platform and share many similarities, including a 2-spoke steering wheel, a high-quality sound system, and Level 2 ADAS. The XEV 9e also has a larger boot, a larger frunk, and is both longer and taller.
