India’s Favourite 7-Seater SUV Launches Tomorrow, But Will It Disappoint?

The fact that the title already gives a clue on the 7-seater under discussion. This SUV was released in 2021 and has had a good performance to date despite new competitors having more features and enhanced technology. Nevertheless, it has continued to be the favorite of India- and now it is preparing to undergo a possible major makeover since its inception.

New 7-Seater Launch

While the XUV 7XO launch date is now confirmed, concerns remain over a possible price hike with the facelift. This 7 seater SUV launch promises big updates, though cost concerns remain. The XUV 7XO expected price is likely to be higher than the current XUV700, especially for top variants.

Sure enough, it is about the Mahindra XUV700, which will be rebranded tomorrow as the XUV 7XO. On January 5, 2026, Mahindra is going to launch the new XUV 7XO and new design and technology. The brand already threw down some teasers, creating great anticipation. Nevertheless, the question is: how much higher will the buyers be forced to pay? The existing XUV700 costs 16.50-30.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Under this facelift, the premium variants might increase up to 1 lakh, whereas base and mid-variants might have 25-50k increase. And that is where the worries start- the new product offerings of the XUV 7XO might be ranked at an apparent premium.

New Design & Features

First, the XUV 7XO will reveal a new exterior and interior design language and not a completely different shape. Outwardly, it will receive a new front grille, revised headlamps and tailamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels, although the overall contour of the SUV will be the same. Internally, Mahindra will build some visible changes, such as the new design of the AC vents and the centre console to give it a more recent appearance.

This will also be updated with the leatherette upholstery, a new theme of interior colours. Nevertheless, the most significant point of discussion will be the increased range of features. XUV 7XO is expected to have a touchscreen infotainment system of 12.3 inches, a co-driver display of 12.3 inches, a digital instrument cluster of 12.3 inches, Level 2+ ADAS, an in-car camera, ventilated second-row seats, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system among others additions.

Same Engine Options – New 7-Seater Launch

The engine options are expected to stay the same, and maybe needed, as well. The existing XUV700 has 2.0 litre turbo-petrol and 2.2 litre diesel engines, both the best in the industry in terms of performance and refinement. Such engines come with either 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Mahindra is expected to carry over this established power plant with the facelift with the only expected change being slightly higher power outputs as compared to a complete new package.
