Tata Tigor Facelift Patent: Tata Motors is clearly not ready to give up on the sub-compact sedan market just yet. While hatchbacks and micro-SUVs have taken center stage recently, newly leaked design patents confirm that a substantial transformation is underway for the Tata Tigor.
Following the footsteps of its hatchback sibling, the Tiago, the upcoming 2026 Tigor facelift is trading its older, softer lines for a distinctly aggressive, premium look. If you are holding out for a budget-friendly sedan that packs modern flair, here is exactly what the new patents reveal about the changes coming your way.
Tata Tigor Facelift Patent
A Sharper Face and Sportier Road Presence
The patent sketches point to a completely reworked front fascia that brings the Tigor right into Tata’s modern, sharp-edged family design language.
The front nose is noticeably flatter and wider, dropping the traditional honeycomb grille for a sleeker setup. Down low, a massive, redesigned bumper features prominent horizontal slats that make the car look wider and more grounded than it actually is.
Moving to the side, the Tigor retains its unique, coupe-like sloping roofline—a silhouette that has always helped it stand out in a crowd of boxy three-box sedans. However, it gets a fresh set of geometric alloy wheels that give it a much sportier stance. Around the back, expect a cleaner rear bumper and a premium, full-width styling line connecting the taillamps to mimic the modern “connected LED” trend.
The all-electric Tigor EV will also benefit from these identical body upgrades, accented by a signature closed-off front grille and subtle blue highlights.
A Tech-Heavy Cabin to Rival the Best
While we cannot see the interior directly from the exterior patent drawings, industry inside tracks confirm a major cabin overhaul. Tata is focusing heavily on digital real estate to make the interior feel like a car from a segment above.
The outdated dashboard is making way for a prominent, freestanding central touchscreen infotainment system. This will be paired with a fully digital instrument cluster right in front of the driver. Expect wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to become the norm across most variants, alongside highly requested convenience features like a wireless phone charging pad, automatic climate control, cruise control, and push-button engine start/stop.
The Big Safety Play: Six Airbags Standard
Tata has practically built its brand identity around passenger safety, and the 2026 Tigor is set to raise the stakes. To match tougher safety standards and buyer expectations, Tata is widely expected to introduce six airbags as standard across the entire line, even on the base models.
On top of the extra airbags, higher trims will likely feature a 360-degree camera system to clear up tight parking spots, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill hold assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Familiar, Reliable Performance Under the Hood
While the looks are getting a complete remix, what is under the hood remains reassuringly familiar. Tata is sticking with its tried-and-tested 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated Revotron engine. It strikes a great balance between daily urban commuter driving and rock-solid fuel efficiency.
- The Petrol Experience: In standard petrol mode, the engine puts out 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a standard 5-speed manual or a convenient 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
- The CNG Alternative: For those looking to beat rising fuel costs, Tata’s brilliant twin-cylinder factory CNG setup will return. It drops power slightly to 76 PS and 97 Nm of torque but keeps your running costs incredibly low. Crucially, Tata will continue to offer the AMT automatic option on the CNG variants—a massive selling point for traffic-heavy commutes.
Launch Dates, Pricing, and the Competition
The current Tata Tigor 2026 is priced very competitively between Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Because of the added safety tech, sharper sheet metal, and larger cabin displays, the 2026 facelift will likely see a minor premium, expected to kick off around the Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
When it officially rolls out to dealerships later this year, the 2026 Tigor will step directly into a fiercely competitive arena, going head-to-head with the market-leading Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Hyundai Aura, and the upcoming next-gen Honda Amaze.
